The Exhibitions Group (formerly Touring Exhibitions Group) is a national membership organisation supporting museums, galleries, and freelance professionals in developing and touring exhibitions. With over 300 members and growing, TEG provides training, research, and resources. In 2022, TEG became an Arts Council England IPSO (Investment Principles Support Organisation), with an ambition to grow its reach and impact significantly by 2026. The rebrand and website redevelopment were key to that strategy.
As part of its transition from TEG to The Exhibitions Group, the organisation required a new website that reflected its broader remit, supported its evolving membership model, and showcased its leadership in sustainable and inclusive exhibition practice. The brief called for an accessible, dynamic website that could support TEG’s growing community, streamline membership processes, improve content usability and create a stronger sense of professional connection across the sector. The site also needed to meet high standards for accessibility and sustainability, with a target Website Carbon rating of A.
Working in close collaboration with TEG, we delivered a full redesign and rebuild of the site, grounded in extensive UX research and strategic content planning. We undertook a deep review of member journeys and audience priorities, simplifying pathways to key actions like joining, renewing membership, or booking onto training. In parallel with the rebrand, we created a bold, engaging homepage design that better reflected TEG’s ambitions, pulling through dynamic news, event updates, and exhibition opportunities to ensure regular, fresh content. We also advised on and supported the transition to a new CRM, carefully assessing several platforms and recommending Beacon CRM. We guided the TEG team through product demos, decision-making, and integration, significantly reducing internal pressure and ensuring the best-fit solution for the organisation’s future.
The final website, built on WordPress with a fully responsive and accessible design, gives The Exhibitions Group a solid digital foundation to grow and evolve. Key features include:
Integrated CRM: Seamless integration with Beacon CRM to manage memberships, payments, and communications efficiently.
Automated Membership Renewals: Recurring payments reduce admin workload and improve the member experience.
Enhanced Members Area: A clearer dashboard and improved layout encourage member-generated content and simplify access to resources.
Resource Hub Overhaul: We restructured core documents, including the Manual of Touring Exhibitions, into more navigable, engaging formats — improving both usability and backend management.
Professional Development: Flexible event listings and payment options now live within the site, reducing reliance on external platforms like Eventbrite.
Sustainability and Accessibility: Designed to meet WCAG standards and optimised for performance, with a focus on reducing carbon impact.
Throughout the process, we provided user-friendly CMS templates and clear documentation to ensure the TEG team can confidently manage the site day-to-day. The new site reflects TEG’s refreshed identity and offers a robust, scalable platform for continued sector leadership.
