We are thrilled to announce the launch of It’s On In Bradford, a new district-wide what’s on site developed in partnership with Bradford Council, Bradford City of Culture 2025 and The LEAP.
The project encompassed brand development and the website build and we will now also be taking on the management of the site and associated marketing campaign.
It’s a particularly special project for us, Out of Place began work on the project in December 2023 but our ambition to see a dedicated what’s on site in our home city goes back a long way. Having previously ran a culture magazine in the city and worked closely with Bradford’s cultural sector since establishing in 2020, we have been advocating for a dedicated what’s on site for some time.
The ambition is to ensure that more people can find out and attend events happening across Bradford, whilst giving venues, promoters and event organisers a free-to-use platform that is user-friendly and reaching a huge audience.
It was a proud moment for us to push the site live on 15 April and we’re delighted with the feedback and uptake, both from audiences and from the sector. We felt we were able to bring a passion and understanding to this project that was quite unique and personal. Ensuring the site reflected the needs of an entire district and of the whole cultural sector.
In developing the brand, we wanted to deliver a name that was confident, that says what it does and had Bradford in the name. But we also wanted to create a flexibility within the brand name to support regional and seasonal campaigns.
The brand identity aims to be bold and colourful, with a flexible and accessible palette that allows for multiple colour combinations. While a simple yet flexible grid system to ensure it can accommodate a wide range of imagery and represent multiple venues and events whilst retaining a core identity and consistency.

The key challenge with the website was delivering a what’s on platform that would meet the needs of a wide range of users. Catering for multiple audiences whilst being flexible enough to work for different venue types including multiple venue operators, independent promoters and more. We also needed to ensure the process of adding events was quick, easy and not a chore for venues.

The site features a custom filter system, members dashboard, venue directory, event collections, newsletter integration and custom animation, with a mobile-friendly accessible design that is both bold and fresh.

Over 50 venues and a further 40 events promoters are already signed up and active on the site as of 1 May, with over 400 live events.
