Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah

Development of a new website to reflect the current and future needs of Blah Theatre Group.

Client

For four decades, The Blahs have worked with artists, schools, families, and arts organisations to bring meaningful stories to children and young people in diverse settings like schools, theatres, community spaces, museums, playgrounds, hospitals, and online. Committed to reaching those who may not typically engage with the arts, they create participatory theatre and projects for marginalised children and young people, along with their parents, carers, and teachers. Their work includes theatre shows, interactive experiences, and workshops that reflect the real lives and interests of children, addressing even the most challenging subjects.

Requirements

The objectives for the development of The Blahs’ website were to create an engaging user experience that clearly communicated how audiences can get involved with The Blahs, whilst offering easy access to information and calls to action. Additionally, the website needed to reflect the rich diversity of both the organisations work and the society it serves, acting as a platform to host future digital content while also showcasing existing material.  The site also has to be a reliable source of information for creative practitioners, educators, and the community. Facilitating ongoing learning within the arts sector and provide a space to publish commissioned research.

Delivery

The website development process encompassed several crucial stages: conducting comprehensive research, organizing UX workshops, and meticulous planning; performing a thorough content audit; creating a detailed site map and wireframes; designing the site; building pages and migrating content; and developing and integrating essential functionality. Additionally, the process included implementing robust security measures, optimising for search engines, and providing launch support and training to ensure a smooth transition.

The final website has video and moving image integration, offering a more dynamic user experience. It features intuitive navigation, easy access to downloadable publications, and is fully optimised for compatibility across mobile and tablet devices. The site is also designed to be fully accessible, with built-in SEO tools and analytics, including Google Analytics, to ensure ongoing performance monitoring.
