Volunteers Week Poster Design

Volunteers Week

Supporting the successful delivery of a new brand identity and associated resources for the Volunteers’ Week Campaign.

Client

The UKVF (UK Volunteering Forum) is a representative group from the four national bodies that manage volunteering within each country; NCVO in England, WCVA in Wales, Volunteer Now in Northern Ireland and Volunteer Scotland. The UKVF coordinate the Volunteers’ Week campaign across the UK, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024.

Requirements

We were appointed to develop a new brand identity and resources for the 40th anniversary of the Volunteers’ Week Campaign in 2024. The goal was to create a modern, inclusive identity that would be bold, colorful, and inspiring, suitable for use in both English and Welsh. The existing brand was seen as outdated and uninspiring, prompting the need for a refresh to strengthen the campaign for years to come. Key objectives included delivering a successful brand identity with logos, taglines, and artwork, telling the story of the brand’s evolution, creating accessible resources for digital platforms, and establishing brand guidelines to support future campaigns. Additionally, consideration was given to the potential for trademarking the new brand.

Delivery

To kick off the Volunteers’ Week brand refresh project, we engaged with key stakeholders and representatives from the four national bodies to discuss project aims and understand how the brand would be used. Given that Volunteers’ Week was celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024, the UKVF sought a bold, colorful, and inspiring identity that could be used in both English and Welsh. We conducted research into user groups, including volunteers and corporate partners, to identify the core values and tone the brand should project, addressing concerns that the existing brand was outdated and uninspiring. Collaborating closely with the Volunteers’ Week team, we explored design practices within and beyond the charity sector to create a modern, inclusive identity. Our objectives included delivering a new logo, taglines, and artwork, crafting a narrative around the brand’s evolution, and producing comprehensive brand guidelines. We also developed accessible resources for digital platforms and social media, established image guidelines for future campaigns, and considered the potential for trademarking the brand, ensuring its lasting impact for years to come.
