Accessibility Audits

Accessibility reviews carried out by people who build accessible websites for a living.

Accessibility is not a compliance exercise. It is a design and development standard that determines whether your website works for everyone who needs to use it, including those who have visual, motor, cognitive or hearing impairments.

We build every website we create to WCAG 2.1 AA standards as a matter of course. That puts us in a good position to review existing sites honestly and practically,  identifying what isn’t working, why, and what needs to change.

What an accessibility review covers

We carry out accessibility reviews that look at colour contrast across all text and interactive elements, keyboard navigation and focus management, screen reader compatibility and semantic HTML structure, form labelling and error handling, image alt text and media accessibility, touch target sizing and mobile accessibility, and document accessibility for any PDFs or downloadable resources.

We produce a written report that identifies issues by severity, explains why each matters, and sets out clearly what needs to change, with enough technical detail for a developer to act on, and enough plain language for a non-technical stakeholder to understand.

Who it’s for

Organisations in receipt of public funding are increasingly expected to evidence accessibility compliance. Public sector bodies are subject to the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations. Charities and cultural organisations face growing expectations from funders and from the audiences they serve. If you’re not sure whether your site meets current standards, an accessibility review is the right place to start.

How to commission one

Accessibility reviews are scoped depending on the size and complexity of your site. Get in touch to discuss what you need and we’ll propose the right approach.

Specialist Skills, in‑house

Every project is different, and some call for a more specialist approach. Alongside our core services, we offer a range of specialist capabilities, from custom typeface design and illustration through to membership websites and accessibility audits. These are things we do properly, in-house, rather than bringing in outside help. If something you need isn’t listed here, it’s always worth asking.
