Cecil Green Arts is a Community Interest Company of artists, puppeteers, musicians and circus performers based in Bradford, creating giant puppets, lanterns and unforgettable community encounters. We were approached to develop their brand and build a suite of assets the team could use across their own marketing.

Keeping the handmade feel, without losing the polish
Narrative CGA’s existing identity was hand-drawn and true to their grassroots, handmade roots, but it wasn’t digital-friendly, accessible, or easy for the team to use day to day. Our job was to hold on to that authenticity while making it modern, consistent and future-proofed.
We brought CGA’s own artists and creatives into the process from the start, which shaped decisions like the cut-out paper shapes now woven through the brand. To capture the tactile, hand-crafted feel of their work, we developed a bespoke typeface in-house using paint and digitisation, then extended that same approach into a library of handmade assets the team could use across their own outputs.
A brand CGA could run with on their own
This was one of our earliest projects, delivered in 2021, for a local Bradford arts organisation we were already familiar with and have been glad to see behind some brilliant community events ever since. It was a brand-only engagement: no website, no ongoing design retainer, just a full set of brand guidelines and a library of assets. Combined together, they gave CGA everything they needed to utilise, develop and market their new brand entirely on their own terms.
