The Exhibitions Group - Website Design and Build

The Exhibitions Group, formerly the Touring Exhibitions Group, is a national membership organisation supporting more than 300 museums, galleries and freelance professionals. As they rebranded to reflect a broader remit and an Arts Council England IPSO designation, we rebuilt their entire membership system and digital presence around it.

A rebrand with a sector-wide ambition

In 2022, the Touring Exhibitions Group became an Arts Council England Investment Principles Support Organisation, with an ambition to grow its reach and impact significantly by 2026. The organisation’s rebrand to The Exhibitions Group was central to that strategy, along with a website and membership offer that matched it.

The brief called for a website that could showcase the organisation’s leadership in sustainable and inclusive exhibition practice, support a growing and increasingly diverse membership base, increase efficiency and meet high standards for both accessibility and environmental sustainability.

We worked closely with The Exhibitions Group’s team to redesign how membership benefits were presented, replacing a dated, static offering with clear, user-focused journeys built around conversion. Preview content gives non-members a genuine sense of what they’d gain without full access, and calls to action adapt dynamically depending on a visitor’s membership status, guiding them naturally towards signing up or engaging with exclusive content. A new set of icons and graphic devices was designed to communicate membership benefits clearly and visually, making the value proposition easy to grasp at a glance.

Rebuilding the membership system from the ground up

The Exhibitions Group’s existing membership system required significant manual effort to manage 300+ members. We began by reviewing their processes end to end, then guided the team through CRM selection, recommending Beacon for its ease of integration with WordPress. MemberPress handles membership tiers, joining, renewals and content access, with Stripe managing payments and automated renewal cycles. The member dashboard gives members a self-service space to manage their subscription and access resources, while dynamic calls to action adapt throughout the site based on membership status. Admin burden reduced significantly. The platform is built to scale with the organisation’s growth ambitions through 2026 and beyond.
